Connecting the TrueClicks MCP to ChatGPT

Add the TrueClicks MCP to ChatGPT as a custom connector using developer mode and OAuth. What plans support it and how to log in.

Written by Ales Sturala

The TrueClicks MCP lets you query your TrueClicks data and your linked Google, Microsoft, and Meta Ads accounts from your AI or automation tool. It has Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, and Meta Ads MCPs built in, so one connection covers all of them plus your TrueClicks data. For what it is and what data it reaches, see Using the TrueClicks MCP.

The MCP URL is:

https://data.trueclicks.com/mcp/

Everything is read-only: reporting and analysis only, no changes to your accounts or ad platforms.

ChatGPT connects with OAuth. You add the connector by its URL and log in with your TrueClicks account, so ChatGPT reaches exactly the accounts your TrueClicks access allows.

Before you start

Custom MCP connectors require developer mode, available on paid plans on the web (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, Edu). On Business and Enterprise, an admin enables developer mode for the workspace first.

Steps

  1. Enable developer mode under Settings > Connectors (or Apps) > Advanced settings.

  2. Create a new connector for a custom MCP server.

  3. Enter a name (call it "TrueClicks MCP") and the URL:

       https://data.trueclicks.com/mcp/
  4. Choose OAuth as the authentication method and save. ChatGPT sends you to TrueClicks to log in and approve access.

  5. Enable the connector in a conversation. You may be asked to approve each tool the first time it runs.

Good to know

  • ChatGPT's custom connectors support OAuth or no authentication only. They can't send a static token as a bearer or basic credential, which is why OAuth is the way to connect. That's fine, since OAuth is the recommended method anyway.

If you don't see the developer mode option, check that you're on a supported paid plan and, on Business or Enterprise, that an admin has enabled it.
