To enable deep linking from TrueClicks to Google Ads, we need an "OCID" number for each account (which cannot be retrieved via the API). This number helps us generate deep links to specific ad groups or campaigns in the Google Ads interface from the output tables in TrueClicks.
You can enter the OCID in the custom attribute of each account, as explained here. While this method is user-friendly for a couple of accounts, it can become cumbersome for many accounts.
We've simplified the process for all your linked accounts with a Chrome bookmarklet script. If one person follows the steps below, all accounts linked to TrueClicks will have deep links instantly, and the whole team can profit from it!
How it works
Follow the instructions as shown in the 1-minute video below. But first, make sure you have these four Chrome tabs open:
Our JavaScript, which needs to be added to your bookmarks (temporarily)
The Chrome Bookmark manager (enter "@bookmarks" in the address bar)
Copy the JavaScript snippet.
Add a bookmark to Google Chrome called "ocid fetcher" and paste the JavaScript into the URL field of the bookmark.
Login to Google Ads with the highest possible MCC-level login.
Click on "Accounts" in the left-hand menu.
Expand the MCC account structure.
Scroll to the bottom of the page.
Click on the "ocid fetcher" bookmark you created in step 2.
A TXT file will be generated and downloaded instantly.
Open this file from the downloads and copy its content.
Go to TrueClicks, click on your name in the top-right corner, and click on "Settings."
Click on the blue "Enter snippet" button.
Paste the content you just copied in the field and click "Save and close."
Give TrueClicks a minute to process the data.
All the linked accounts from the MCC you were logged into in Google Ads now have deep links in TrueClicks!
